Construction of a New, Highly Efficient Coal-fired Power Plant
Welcome to the future
High temperatures and high pressure are the key to greater levels of efficiency. As part of its "innovate.on" technology initiative, E.ON intends to build the 50plus power plant in Wilhelmshaven with an efficiency of over 50 percent and an output of around 550 megawatts. This power plant is planned to go online in 2015.
Completely new materials will be used to achieve the targeted improvement in efficiency. They need to withstand a steam temperature of 700 degrees and a pressure of 350 bar.
At an efficiency of more than 50 percent, and noticeably reduced CO2 emissions, the 50plus power plant represents a quantum leap in the development of hard coal-fired power stations:
